The Zanu-PF Secretary for Administration, Didymus Mutasa has dismissed media reports that his party's Special Politburo meeting gagged and ordered the Minister of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services, Professor Jonathan Moyo to stop taking internal party issues to the media.

Mutasa told journalists in Harare that reports in a local daily newspaper are not true.

He said it will not make any sense to gag an information minister, adding that if Zanu-PF was to do so, it will be a disservice to itself as he is the government's mouthpiece.

"It is the media that wants to propel in-fighting within Zanu PF through publishing false stories that cause disharmony," he said.

Turning to the alleged fallout between Professor Moyo and the party's Secretary for Information and Publicity, Rugare Gumbo, Mutasa said it is only the two who can sit down and openly discuss the issue so that they can work harmoniously for the benefit of the country.

Mutasa confirmed that the Special Politburo meeting did not also change the party's game plan of setting up an election committee in each province to coordinate provincial elections.

The Zanu-PF Special Politburo, which was held on Saturday, 23 November at the party headquarters in Harare, endorsed the provincial elections held in Manicaland, Midlands and Mashonaland Central provinces, and told other provinces that have not yet held elections to do so.
