The late Brigadier General Misheck Tanyanyiwa, who died in China last week, has been declared a national hero.
This came out at a Politburo meeting at the Zanu PF headquarters in Harare on Thursday.
He will be buried at the National Heroes Acre on Sunday.
Brigadier General Tanyanyiwa was Zimbabwe's Defence Attaché to China.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Zanu PF Secretary for Information and Publicity, Rugare Gumbo, said the party Secretary for Administration, Didymus Mutasa, Sydney Sekeramayi and Emmerson Mnangagwa will deliver the news to the Tanyanyiwa family.
The Politburo meeting also discussed the recent party provincial executive elections which it endorsed despite reports of violence and logistical challenges.
He added that the meeting discussed preparations for the 14th annual National People's Conference which will start on the 10th to the 15th of this month in Chinhoyi.
The conference is expected to come up with programmes for implementing the ZIM ASSET programme to uplift people's living standards and economic recovery.
