AN armed robber raided an Eco-cash agent shop at Chadcombe Shopping Centre in Harare on Tuesday morning and got away with $500 cash.
Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Tadius Chibanda yesterday said the agent Fortunate Marowa (39) of Msasa Park was alone when the incident occurred.
"The incident occurred at around 11.15am and the suspect was driving a black BMW without registration number plates.
"He was also wearing a jean short and a black vest," he said.
He said on arriving at the shopping centre, the armed robber parked his getaway vehicle at a distance and approached Marowa who was alone in the booth.
He duped Marowa into believing that he wanted to take some cash.
Insp Chibanda said as Marowa was counting some cash, the armed robber produced a pistol and demanded all the money that was in the shop.
"He was handed over, $500 cash and the armed robber fled, jumped into his vehicle and sped off," he said.
A report was made to the police and investigations are still in progress.
