Manicaland provincial police spokesperson Inspector Enock Chishiri confirmed that a female security guard who was guarding an Econet network booster was last week raped while on duty by an unknown rapist who vanished into the bushy area close to Marymount Teachers' College.
The incident happened on Sunday at Marymount Econet booster at around 9am.
He said the guard from Sakubva high-density suburb was approached by an unknown man who produced a knife and demanded to sleep with her.
"The guard refused and tried to run away, but the man gave chase and grabbed her. He ripped off the guard's pair of trousers with a knife and raped her once. The rapist disappeared into the bushes close to Marymount," said Insp Chishiri.
"The guard sent a 'please call me back message' to her employers, but she got no response. She had to wait until she finished her duty and then reported the matter at Sakubva Police Station," he said.
