SOME Zanu-PF women's league exchanged harsh words at the party's district offices in Gweru on Friday after a donation of $1 000 by a son to former Midlands provincial governor Cephas Msipa meant for projects, could not be accounted for.
Southern Eye witnessed the chaos at the party's offices with some women demanding to know what had happened to the donation meant for projects. A women's league member Girly Marongwe said the $1 000 was donated at the memorial service of the ex-governor's late wife Charlotte Sithabile Msipa.
"We have inquired at the office on the whereabouts of the donation and they are saying they gave it to the Provincial Affairs minister Jason Machaya. But he (Machaya) has said his office never received any such money," Marongwe said.
Some women's league members said they feared the money could have been misappropriated by unscrupulous people in the party.
When contacted for comment, Machaya said his office never received the money, but confirmed that he was aware of the donation. Efforts to get a comment from Msipa were fruitless as his mobile phone number was unreachable.
