Zanu-PF Mashonaland West province says it will recall errant National Assembly members and councillors who fail to implement programmes.
Addressing hundreds of party supporters at a rally in Karoi, provincial chairman Temba Mliswa said the MPs and councillors got their mandate from the electorate and the party.
"Our MPs and councillors should know that the moment they are no longer serving the interests of the people who elected them and the party, we won't hesitate to recall them," he said.
He said even ministers owe their positions to the people and the party.
The rally at Chiedza Primary school was called to drum up support for Fortunate Madamombe, the Zanu-PF candidate in the Karoi Ward 10 by-election.
Mliswa accused some councillors of neglecting their duties.
Minister of State for Provincial Affairs for Mashonaland West Faber Chidarikire said leaders should work for the people guided by the desire to uplift their lives.
He said Zanu-PF should register a resounding victory in the by-election to reaffirm dominance over MDC-T.
Meanwhile, only two people defected from MDC-T to Zanu-PF saying the opposition had nothing to offer.
One of them, Mr Regie Machingaifa, said the MDC-T was an imaginary giant like a misty mountain that soon varnishes when the weather clears.
The rally was attended by Politburo member James Gumpo, members of the provincial executive including vice-chairman and home affairs deputy minister Ziyambi Ziyambi among others.
