18 convicted for destroying 'witch's' homestead

Some 18 people from village 8 Guluji Gonarezhou resettlement Chiredzi have appeared before Chiredzi Magistrate Tayengwa Chibanda for malicious damage of property.
The 18, Boyzen Mundau 40, Moses Kupani 24, Gift Matsilele 31, Robert Mashawa 26, Ingwani Hobho 59, Lenard Tuyani 34, Patrick Chitimela 43, Sostina Mavhakacha 70, Nyaradzo Makuvele 25, Evelyn Makapani 31, Chaka Khumbula 70, Sylivia Shoko 43, Njakeni Musenga 68, Letwin Marombedzi 18, Maria Chirilele 62, Sineti Mugwambani 59, Lydia Mapamba 37 and Eustina Chinyama 20 told the court that they destroyed Regina Chadyiwa's house because they allege that she is a witch and they wanted her to leave their area.
It is the State case that on January 16 2014 at around 07:00hours the accused person had a meeting in village 8 Guluji Gonarezhou and connived to destroy complainant's house so as to force her out of the village.
The accused then destroyed the house.
The complainant Regina Chadyiwa reported the matter to the police leading to the arrest of the 18.
The 18 were found guilty and were given 30 days in prison or $30 dollars each.
Muhwandawaka procecuted.
