Zanu-PF mayor defends fired MDC-T councillors

Redcliff mayor Freddy Kapuya (Zanu-PF) has reportedly offered to financially assists two former MDC-T councillors to challenge their expulsion from council as payback his mayoral bid last year.

Councillors Eupharacia Duro and Takura Chikwira were fired from the MDC-T alongside Onward Majaji last September over charges of backing a Zanu PF mayoral candidate.

They were subsequently relieved of their council duties by Local Government minister Ignatius Chombo.

The pair has since taken the MDC-T to the High Court challenging the dismissals as illegal.
