Finance Minister Tendai Biti has refused to condemn illegal sanctions on the country and has vowed never to sign the anti-sanctions petition after being presented the document by youths from a local anti-sanctions lobby group.
Scores of youths from the Anti-sanctions Trust visited Mr. Biti at his offices in Harare where they presented him with the anti-sanctions petition document so that he could append his signature.
Mr. Biti however refused to sign the document claiming the campaign has nothing to do with his party.
Mr. Biti claimed that the best his party could do for Zimbabwe was to sign the Global Political Agreement.
"That petition has nothing to do with the MDC-T; it's a Zanu PF document ....we signed the GPA, that's for Zimbabweans," claimed Mr. Biti.
President of the Anti-sanctions Trust, Mr. Fanuel Mutasa said as a Zimbabwean, Mr. Biti should show that he has the people's interests at heart, adding that his refusal to sign the document is a clear testimony of how anti-people his party's policies are.
"Mr Biti's refusal clearly shows everyone that the MDC-T has nothing to offer to the generality of Zimbabweans," said Mr. Mutasa.
