Jameson Timba who is Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office has been accused of allegedly holding secret meetings with some private media representatives in a move to recruit a pro-MDC-T editorial team that will spearhead anti-Mugabe campaign under the alleged £3 million project, state controlled ZBC News reported on Thursday.
On its website ZBC News stated that the scramble for the alleged £3 million being dished by the Prime Minister's Office to denigrate president Robert Mugabe and his Zanu-PF party has intensified. Some senior journalists and editors from the private media are reported to be stampeding to meet Timba to submit their curriculum vitas.
Apparently latest information gathered by state controlled ZBC News shows that Timba is now in full charge as the overall editor of some sections of the private media, dictating what stories and headlines to write.
According to the state controlled ZBC News the unveiling of the £3 million by MDC-T western sponsors, independent media editors are alleged to be engaged in a series of meetings with Timba who will tell them what Prime Minister Tsvangirai wants them to write.
State controlled ZBC has questioned the silence by the Zimbabwe Union Journalists (ZUJ) on such key issues of national interest saying such a failure to investigate the matter is now raising eyebrows.
