Zanu-PF has castigated ex-Prime Minister and MDC-T leader, Morgan Tsvangirai for claims that President Mugabe and his government are incompetent.
In a statement, Zanu-PF Secretary for Information and Publicity, Rugare Gumbo said the revolutionary party is appalled by 'Tsvangirai's desire to mislead the nation by making the claims of incompetence on the part of President Mugabe's government.'
"We are equally disturbed by Mr Tsvangirai's attempt to lie to the nation by claiming that he is a man of high moral standing. Neither of these claims is true and both are meant to cast Mr Tsvangirai as a politician of substance which, based on the available evidence, he quite evidently is not," added Gumbo.
He said President Mugabe's government is doing everything in his power to ensure economic stability and progress as evidenced by efforts to lure foreign investment and ensure value addition of all minerals.
Gumbo said anybody who questions President Mugabe's capacity is partisan and short of memory.
"Accordingly, anybody who questions President Mugabe's capacity and efforts, not only has a short memory, as history is littered with countless success stories, but is clearly being partisan and trying to demean the efforts of a well-performing government," he said.
Gumbo added that Tsvangirai is a three-time loser who has no standing to comment on any political issue and whose intentions towards the welfare of the Zimbabwean people are negative.
He said: "He must allow those who won elections to do their job as his falsehoods will attract retrogressive publicity around the country. The ugly truth is that Tsvangirai has shown himself over and over not only as a failed politician of loose morals but a liar whose utterances should be taken with a grain of salt."
