Zanu-PF has dismissed as null and void claims by a Central Committee member for Midlands Douglas Tapfuma and the Kwekwe District executive that they were recalling Kwekwe Central MP, Masango Matambanadzo following a public brawl with Gokwe-Kana legislator Owen Ncube.
Tapfuma told the media last week that Kwekwe District no longer wanted to associate with Matambanadzo for attacking his senior equating it to "gross indiscipline and undermining senior party members".
Zanu-PF spokesperson Rugare Gumbo said Tapfuma jumped the gun.
"Tapfuma has no authority to issue such statements for a national issue," said Gumbo.
"What he said is null and void because the province led by provincial chairperson (Jaison) Machaya has not yet made a determination on the issue. They are still waiting for a report of what happened.
"Everything has to go through normal processes than a situation where someone just wakes up from their dream and issue a statement that they are recalling an MP when they do not have the capacity to do that."
Gumbo last week, said Matambanadzo and Ncube would be summoned for bringing the name of the revolutionary party into disrepute.
The duo exchanged blows on Sunday last week at Amaveni Shopping Centre over allegations of instructing youths to perform acts of arson.
