The Zanu-PF Women's League elective conference has begun in Harare, with more than 4 000 women from all the country's provinces gathering for the meeting that is expected to endorse the First Lady, Grace Mugabe as the leader of the ruling party's women's wing.
Mugabe was last month unanimously recommended by the provincial executives for the position of secretary of the league.
She is expected to take over from Women's Affairs Minister Oppah Muchinguri.
Muchinguri revealed on Wednesday night that the organisers had ensured that all logistics are in place to avoid the chaos that characterised last week's elective conference for the party's Youth League.
The conference got a major boost from Vice President Joice Mujuru, well-wishers and corporates which donated an assortment of foodstuffs and regalia for delegates following an appeal for assistance by the wing's executive.
Earlier, the conference received a donation of 20 beasts from Politburo members - Saviour Kasukuwere, Professor Jonathan Moyo, Patrick Zhuwawo, as well as businessman Dr Philip Chiyangwa.
