The Zimbabwe Congress of Students Union (ZICOSU) and the national youth service graduates have slammed factionalism and infighting saying it is retrogressive and derails the Zanu PF party from core values of serving the people and growing the economy.

The youths, who addressed journalists during a joint media briefing which was held in the capital, roundly condemned infighting and factionalism and implored the senior members of the party who are fingered in factionalism to forego their selfish ideas for the good of the party.

ZICOSU Harare province chapter chairman Malvern Kwaramba said factionalism was decaying the core values of the party.

The national youth service graduates vice chairman Steven Katehwe echoed the same sentiments and said those fanning factionalism were putting the party into disarray.

The youth bodies also threw their weight behind the President Robert Mugabe and the elevation of the First Lady Dr Grace Mugabe to lead the Zanu PF Women's League.
