GRACE Mugabe, the First Lady has said Zanu PF chairpersons heading major towns must be fired for failing to help the party garner votes ahead of Morgan Tsvangirai's MDC-T which has been defeating Zanu PF in major cities such as Harare and Bulawayo since 2000.

The emergence of MDC party has seen Zanu-PF's support in the country's two metropolitan provinces dwindling dramatically, while the party continued to play second fiddle to MDC-T in other major cities such as Mutare, Masvingo and Gweru.

In last year's harmonized elections Zanu PF struggled to win six seats in Harare and failed to win a single constituency in Bulawayo.

Speaking at the Zanu-PF Conference Centre in Gweru yesterday, Grace took a swipe at some senior Zanu-PF members whom she said were working with MDC-T and other outside forces to destroy Zanu PF.

She said it was pointless to retain provincial chairpersons who appeared to have run out of all options to rejuvenate the party in urban areas.

Grace accused party officials for working with MDC-T saying that derailed party's economic blueprint, Zim-Asset – which the party hopes to implement to change the country's economic prospects.

She said the collusion with MDC-T was manifesting in Zanu-PF where some senior officials were shying from denouncing the British-sponsored party in public.

Grace also charged that some party big wigs were plotting to dethrone her aging husband but would not be able to do so because the First Family was vigilant.
