THE case of youthful Zanu-PF MP for Mhondoro-Ngezi, Mike Gava (32) facing charges of kidnapping his ex-girlfriend has been closed at the behest of the complainant who withdrew the case at her own volition.

However, the other charges involving violation of the Firearms Act will resume on October 10.

The MP's 21year old ex-girlfriend Thandeka Chitombo filed a withdrawal affidavit before magistrate Takudzwa Gwazemba, telling the court she had done so on ‘compassionate' grounds.

Chitombo told the court that to err was human hence she had decided to withdraw the case against Gava. Steve Murambashiri of Jarvis and Palferman Law Firm is representing Gava.

The case has been characterised by several twists and turns. The last time trial was scheduled to kick-off, the prosecutor handling the matter, Reginald Chavora, was recused from the case which was then taken over by Chegutu prosecutor-in-charge Allan Chifokoyo over yet unclear circumstances.
