Zanu-PF leadership in Gokwe Nembudziya constituency says there are no sacred candidates at the forthcoming December congress as all positions will be contested except for the First Secretary and President, Robert Mugabe.
The revolutionary party is heading for an elective national congress in December where candidates for the presidium will be elected into office except for that of President Mugabe who got overwhelming endorsement by all provinces.
The other positions that will be tightly contested are for the two vice presidents and the National Chairman of the party, and currently, members are angling for some positions hence the merging of factions.
Addressing chiefs and headmen in Gokwe Nembudziya, the legislator for the constituency, Justice Mayor Wadyajena said every member is eligible to be voted into any position during the forthcoming congress.
Zanu-PF Politburo member, Edson Chakanyuka said party supporters should shun factionalism and promote unity of purpose for the development of the country.
The meeting with chiefs and headmen was meant to update the leadership on the First Lady, Dr Grace Mugabe's ‘Meet the People Tours' held in all the 10 provinces where calls for a unity of purpose were made.
The First Lady also urged party supporters to desist from promoting factionalism which is threatening the party ahead of an elective congress.
