Zanu PF divisions reach boiling point, Gwanetsa fired

Zanu-PF Masvingo provincial chairman Callisto Gwanetsa was yesterday booted out of the executive committee as chairperson for allegedly promoting factionalism, abusing office and failing to execute his duties as chairperson.
He was given a unanimous vote of no confidence by more than 70 provincial members drawn from Masvingo's seven districts, according to a report by State run Herald.
His deputy Paradzai Chakona was appointed acting provincial chairperson.
Provincial executive members burst into song and ululated after passing the no confidence vote at a meeting held at the Chiefs' Hall in the city.
His assertions were refuted by other provincial executive members who said such a meeting had never taken place.
Gwanetsa was also accused of de-campaigning First Lady Amai Grace Mugabe who has been unanimously endorsed to become Zanu-PF Secretary for Women Affairs.
Observers say Gwanetsa who alleged to be linked to the Mujuru camp was fired as the rival camp led by Justice Minister Emmerson Mnangagwa tries to clear its way ahead of the party's crunch December Congress where Mujuru hardliners are likely to lose their Zanu PF jobs en masse if the coup by Mnangagwa succeeds.
Gwanetsa refused to comment yesterday.
