The Zanu PF extraordinary Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) meeting at in Masvingo was abandoned due to violence after some supporters were incensed by Politburo member, Dzikamai Mavhaire's recognition of the ousted Provincial Executive led by Calisto Gwanetsa

The violence broke out when Mavhaire announced that he was chairing the special PCC meeting.

Mavhaire had also introduced the present Politburo members as well as the Gwanetsa-led executive.

Some PCC members started questioning the legality of the meeting with Gwanetsa being regarded the incumbent chairman against the background of a vote of no confidence passed against him.

The situation then degenerated into a verbal war before some supporters loyal to Gwanetsa forced their way into the meeting and violence erupted.

Present Politburo members who included Mavhaire, Kudakwashe Bhasikiti, Josiah Hungwe, Michael Mawema and Otilia Maluleke ran for dear lives following the skirmishes.

In a huffed interview with the ZBC News, a visibly shaken Mavhaire heaped the blame on the police for failing to quell the situation.

Zanu PF supporters in Masvingo last week passed a vote of no confidence on Gwanetsa following allegations of factionalism, abuse of power and setting up parallel structures, among a host of other vices.
