PTUZ courts NewsDay to scandalize Zanu-PF
Luckwell Musona of Domboratinhira Resettlement Area, in Ward 4, who is a teacher at Moyoweshumba Secondary school in Mutasa Central, had his house burnt on May 1, 2011 by unknown plotters while he was in Harare with his wife Sithokozile Munhika on private business.
Property estimated at seven thousand one hundred United States dollars (US$7 100) went up in smoke in this callous case of arson. The case was reported at Penhalonga Police Station.
Mr Musona told this reporter that he suspected that his homestead was burnt by his neighbour, Justice Chitsama with whom he has a long standing dispute which resulted in Musona assaulting the latter' wife in 2009 for stealing his security fence.
He added that the arson incident was a purely personal vendetta and not a politically motivated as allegedly published by the NewsDay on May 4, 2011. He further asserted that he did not belong to any political party, neither did he talk to NewsDay journalists about this issue. He said he only informed Progressive Teachers' Union of Zimbabwe (PTUZ) Mutare Office since he is a teacher in Mutasa Central.
This gross misrepresentation of facts by the NewsDay is shameful to the newspaper's editorial operations which seem devoid of elementary journalistic ethics. True journalists take time to verify the authenticity, factuality, objectivity, reliability and credibility of facts which make up a story. This bush journalist needs to be schooled on the normative components that protect professionalism of the media fraternity.
