Former Zanu-PF Harare Provincial Youth Chairman, Jim Kunaka is admitted at the Avenues Clinic where he is being treated for injuries following an alleged abduction and assault by unknown assailants.
Kunaka who narrated his ordeal to the at his hospital bed said the attack occurred around 10 am today at Carter House.
He said four men whom he does not know approached him and tried to take him by force claiming they were arresting him.
When he resisted, he was then assaulted before being shoved into a car, blindfolded and driven to an area near the Harare International Airport.
"They approached me as people who wanted to talk to me but later assaulted me to force me to comply with their orders. The other one produced a pistol and as I resisted for a while a crowd gathered. When they saw the crowd, the other guy produced an AK 47 rifle which he fired in the air and the people scampered for dear life. That is when they put me in the car and assaulted me," said the visibly in pain Kunaka, who however vowed that he will defend his beliefs and will not be cowed by the assault.
"I will never leave Zanu-PF, this will not deter me from following what I believe in," he added.
Contacted for comment, police spokesperson Chief Superintendent Paul Nyathi confirmed that a report of assault on Kunaka had been filed at Harare Central Police Station and that investigations are underway.
