Zanu-PF Harare executives for the main and youth wings have reaffirmed the ouster Chairperson, Amos Midzi through a vote of no confidence, maintaining that Christopher Chigumba will remain the substantive chairman while Godfrey Gomwe will continue leading the youth.
Hundreds of Zanu-PF Harare province supporters gathered at the party's provincial offices to reaffirm their decision.
"We as the Executive Council want to reaffirm what we said on the 6th and again on the 12th of this month that Midzi is no longer the chairman. We refuse and will remain steadfast on that position," said Dumisani Chipango, the Provincial Secretary for Finance.
"There were no irregularities in our suspension of the chair and we still maintain our position. We have signed and sent to the headquarters the position that as a council we have no confidence in him. Accordingly, Chigumba is the chairman," said Danny Musukuma, the Provincial Secretary for Legal Affairs.
The same meeting also saw the Harare Youth League standing by their chairman, Godfrey Gomwe.
"We want to protect our patriotism and we are saying no member of the main wing should influence and try to divisively influence our position. Gomwe was voted in and he remains our chosen chairman contrary to Tendai Diwa's fictitious letter," said Innocent Hamandishe, a Youth Affairs Central Committee member.
"We have appended our signatures to that effect and the meeting to depose Gomwe was not done here and was not with the entirety of the Youth League Executive, so we restate that he is our youth leader in Harare," said the Provincial Youth League Vice Chairman, Deson Takataka.
Midzi was removed from the chairmanship on the 6th of November when a vote on no confidence was passed on him over allegations of fanning factionalism.
