BULAWAYO MDC-Renewal interim spokesperson Edwin Ndlovu says the imminent grand coalition between his party and the MDC led by Welshmen Ncube is not about positions but a code to remove President Mugabe from power.
"We are telling them of the benefits of a united opposition movement. We are saying it's not about positions, but it's about uniting the people of Zimbabwe to remove Zanu-PF," Ndlovu who was quoted saying.
Ndlovu added: "The meetings are being held countrywide. They are not touching on who will occupy what position. We are not talking about positions, but about forming a united front against Zanu-PF."
In October, the two parties signed an engagement pact for possible unification and are set for a signing ceremony at the end of this month.
They resolved to engage on the basis of their common history, bond and origins of the original MDC that was formed in 1999.
Analysts have said a united front is necessary to dislodge President Robert Mugabe's Zanu-PF's party.
