Zanu-PF Politburo member defends current purging

Zanu-PF Politburo member Saviour Kasukuwere says the current purging of undesirable elements within the party is necessary to reconnect it with its founding principles.
Kasukuwere said this in his key note address at the Zanu-PF Mashonaland Central inter-district conference, held in Bindura.
He said it was disturbing that some people in leadership positions had entangled themselves in party succession politics and factionalism at the expense of service delivery, hence the need to weed them out before the congress.
Kasukuwere said the province was fully behind the candidature of President Robert Mugabe and the elevation of the First Lady Dr Grace Mugabe as the secretary for women's affairs at the 6th National People's Congress.
Meanwhile, Dickson Mafios has bounced back as Zanu-PF Mashonaland Central provincial chairman after he was co-opted in to the provincial executive following the elevation of some members into the central committee.
