Zanu-PF congresses begins in Harare

It has been called the mother of all congresses... A congress that has dabbled through emotion, action and drastic resolutions, one which political analysts say the will be the revolutionary Zanu-PF party's road to success after making crucial decisions in its build up.
The 2014 Zanu PF Annual National People's Congress has ridden on and overcome a wave of challenges.
The build up has seen those accused of fanning factionalism kicked out. The vultures encircling the presidency have also been decisively dealt with.
The most unexpected to happen up to now is that the plot to overthrow the party's President and First Secretary was engineered from within the presidium.
Such a plot could never have been imagined in history and political analyst Psychology Maziwisa says for people expected to stand in unison with the president to plot such schemes smacks of the greatest betrayal.
With Vice President Joice Mujuru singled out as the chief striker in the succession machinations, Alexander Kanengoni, also a political analyst, says allegations raised against her are an important judgement of her moral standing.
Fingered several times for putting her fingers in the cookie jar through corrupt dealings, Kanengoni says by putting individual and family interests ahead of national priorities, the Vice President stands out as an example not to emulate if integrity is to count.
The roller-coaster of change has continued on its course.
In its orbit it has claimed party heavyweights such as VP Mujuru, national political commissar Webster Shamu, Ministers Nicholas Goche, Andrew Langa, Sylvester Nguni and many others.
As the axe fell on the senior faction party leaders, there is consensus that Zanu PF has carried out an important self cleansing ritual which has renewed and refocused the party to emerge stronger after the December 2014 congress.
