War veterans to take up the Didymus Mutasa issue within Zanu-PF

War veterans say they will take up the Didymus Mutasa issue within Zanu-PF as they feel the Politburo erred by referring the matter to the national disciplinary committee.
War veterans Secretary General, Victor Matemadanda said the Politburo erred by handling the issue of Mutasa at national level as the former Zanu-PF Secretary for Administration is now an ordinary card carrying member of the party and should therefore be presided over at district or branch level.
Zanu-PF has instituted a disciplinary process against Mutasa and the party's Politburo, which is the administrative body, recently appointed a disciplinary committee to hear the case and make a determination on his fate.
The six-member disciplinary committee is being chaired by Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko, and also comprises Saviour Kasukuwere (Secretary for the Commissariat), Patrick Chinamasa (Secretary for Legal Affairs), Dr Grace Mugabe (Secretary for Women Affairs), Pupurai Togarepi (Secretary for Youth Affairs) and Kembo Mohadi (Secretary for Security).
The Zanu-PF Politburo met last week, and Mutasa's issue was on the agenda after Manicaland Province had recommended the ex-minister's expulsion from the party.
Mutasa, who was reduced to an ordinary card-carrying member in last December's Zanu-PF congress, stands accused of attempting to involve SADC and the African Union in Zanu-PF's internal affairs, granting interviews to hostile private media, denigrating the party and the outcome of the 6th Zanu-PF congress held in December.
