Zanu-PF MP tears into land reform plunder
17 Mar 2015 at 07:08hrs | Views
Sanyati MP Blessed Runesu (Zanu-PF) has accused government of contributing to the recurrent famines recorded over the past decade because of its un-coordinated land redistribution programme.
Addressing journalists at its Geza Farm in Sanyati over the weekend, Runesu described the land reform programme as a monumental failure as over 75% of formerly productive agricultural land was now idle after it was allocated to ill equipped indigenous farmers.
Runesu said some move from one farm to the other after plundering instead of making serious production. He urged war veterans to guard against being used by greedy leaders to engage in criminal activities which have given them a bad name.
This comes as Zanu-PF has threatened to grab the remaining white owned commercial farms.
