Zanu-PF youth members defend party over unemployment rate

Zanu-PF youth and empowerment activist Fidelis Fengu has defended his party by claiming that it is not true that there is over 90 percent un employment indicating that those who are self employed fall under the employed category.

"I would like to challenge those who say Zimbabwe has 90+ % unemployment," he said.

"Define employment......Being self employed or a consultant....or Entrepreneur is that not a form of employment.....Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and the informal economy currently form the largest employer...... The corporate world such as banks, insurance etc are not seeing the oak in the acorn here."

He said the Indians and Chinese have seen it work and Zimbabwe must appreciate that self employment is employment.

But Lyfe Mariro disputed the claims saying the problem with the Zimbabwean leaders is that they brew their own statistics which are not true at all.

"The problem with you leaders is that you manufacture your own statistic," he said. "Do you know how painful it is to sell cattle so that a child goes to school and after he completes that university education then he becomes an air time vendor? Where is our conscience Zimbabweans? Lets give our leadership the real situation obtaining on the ground rather than coming up with lies to suppress the truth on the ground.People are simply asking for jobs they don't care who brings them,who is at state house.They want jobs not politics."

But Fengu said the Indians are doing it locally and so are the Chinese...... "Complaining about statistics where will it take us," said Fengu.
