Social workers, 'Join Zanu-PF or else'

Manicaland Provincial Affairs minister Mandi Chimene has urged social workers in the country to join Zanu-PF if they were to avoid facing hindrances in their work.

Speaking at the annual Social Workers' Conference and Winter School in Mutare yesterday Chimene said the ruling party controlled all state apparatus in the country.

Chimene praised Zimbabweans for being resilient in the face of the economic downturn that has seen the closure of many companies.

Meanwhile Chimene this week ordered all street vendors in Mutare to pay $1 to council in a move that is likely to face resistance.
