President Robert Mugabe's government is coming under increasing pressure from Zimbabweans from all walks of life to revive the country's dying economy, amid a biting liquidity crunch and fast-emptying Treasury coffers spawned by a poverty of sound policies, corruption and official ineptitude.
And faced with this dire reality and an increasing restless electorate, Mugabe's critics say the long-ruling nonagenarian is having to resort to globe-trotting, begging and signing "obscure" memoranda of understanding with various countries in a desperate effort to secure funds to mitigate the situation and implement his economic blueprint, ZimAsset.
Meanwhile, MDC-T spokesperson Obert Gutu said party leader Morgan Tsvangirai would press for meetings with some of the regional leaders to brief them about the situation in Zimbabwe.
The MDC-T said it wanted the Zimbabwe crisis back on the Sadc agenda as the economic deterioration was worsening.
