A 46 year old Zanu-PF activist Clifford Hokonya last week appeared at the Mbare Magistrates' Court where he was slapped with a $100 fine after defying a court order.
Hokonya was accused of scoffing at a High Court order barring him from interfering with activities of the Magamba Echimurenga Trust.
The contempt of court charge arose after Hokonya scoffed at a High Court order issued by High Court judge Justice Andrew Mutema in February 2013, barring him and his accomplice Charles Mpofu from invading Amsterdam Park, a residential area near Boka Tobacco Sales Floors, on the outskirts of Harare.
In his ruling, Justice Mutema had barred the duo from grabbing the land and interfering with Magamba Echimurenga Housing Cooperative's operations.
Part of the judgment read: "The 1st and 2nd (Hokonya and Mpofu) be and are hereby interdicted from alienating, selling or disposing the stands at Amsterdam Park, Harare."
The defendants be and are hereby interdicted from interfering in any way in the affairs of the plaintiff.
