Zanu-PF wins Wedza North by-election

Zanu-PF has retained the Wedza North constituency after romping to a resounding victory in the by-elections held yesterday.
Zanu-PF candidate, David Musabayana won resoundingly after garnering 9021 votes against 178 by Chikukwa Mudzingwa of the NCA, 140 by Tichaona Makara of Transform Zimbabwe and 88 for Precious Manimanzi of the Freedom Front.
Musabayana was declared the duly elected member of the National Assembly for Wedza North by Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) Constituency Elections Officer, Mr Stewart Zvawambire.
Mr Mudzingwa of the NCA said the elections were free and fair, adding that he is confident of winning in 2018.
Mr Makara of Transform Zimbabwe left just before the announcement of the results, while Manimanzi of the Freedom Front never turned up for the announcement of the election results.
9542 valid votes were cast in the election while 115 were rejected.
