The new crop of prostitutes countrywide are at great risk of contracting HIV as they lack skills for negotiating  for condemn use, a National Aids Council official has said.

NAC monitoring and evaluation director Amon Mpofu says older prostitutes have a slight advantage over new comers.

"It is actually shocking that according to a research that was done, the younger generation of sex workers are more likely  not to use protection with their clients as in most cases they offer unprotected sex for more money," Mpofu is quoted by H-Metro.

"These do not operate in a vacuum because it is men who are in marriages who seek their services before they go on to infect their spouses at home.

"We shouldn't stigmatise sex workers buy maybe try and engage them so that they engage in safe sex.

"If there was no demand for sex workers, I am sure they would not be having them," he added.
