MHONDORO Ngezi MP Mike Gava (Zanu PF) and his wife, Tendai Concilia Gava will officially divorce at the High Court in Harare on Wednesday barely three years after tying the knot at a colourful wedding.

South African opposition politician Julius Malema attended the wedding.

Gava's sexual escapades with other women, according to summons filed by Tendai under case number HC5328/15, had led to the couple losing love and affection for each other.

"The marriage has irretrievably broken down due to the following reasons, the parties have lost love and affection for each other, the defendant (Gava) has been having adulterous relationships with women unknown to the plaintiff and the parties have been living separately since April 2014," Tendai said in her affidavit.

"The plaintiff (Tendai) was left with no option other than to institute divorce proceedings and defendant was served with the summons and declaration by the Sheriff for Zimbabwe on June 12, 2015.The parties have agreed that indeed the marriage in question has irretrievably broken down and entered into an agreement recorded as a consent paper," NewsDay reported.

According to the consent paper signed by both parties and filed at the High Court on Wednesday last week, during the subsistence of the marriage, the couple acquired some household goods which they had already shared and further agreed that each party should keep the household goods in its possession.

The marriage in question, as per the consent paper, was blessed with one minor child Mike Saviour Gava born on January 28, 2014 whom the parties agreed should be in Tendai's custody until he attains the age of 18.

The parties, however, agreed that Gava would be paying $200 every month for the upkeep of the minor child as well as catering for the child's medical expenses.
