Zanu-PF has been accused of stealing money, land, agricultural machinery and implements, elections and of now wanting to steal a whole MDC-T Mayor of Gweru, Hamutendi Kombayi.

Speaking at a recent official opening of the Meikles Mega Market in Gweru the Minister of Welfare Services for War Veterans, Christopher Mutsvangwa surprised guests when he said to Mayor Kombayi "This is good stuff, bringing in investors like Meikles to Gweru, you are doing a fantastic job and next time we want to vote for you as mayor but not on a wrong ticket (MDC) but on a ZanuPF ticket".

Social commentator Alois Matonmgo posted on Facebook that to show that this is not just the minister's personal opinion Mutsvangwa went on to narrate the leading role that the late first black Mayor of Gweru and father of of current mayor,Patrick Kombayi, had played in feeding comrades during the liberation war.

"Of course he avoided mentioning that Patrick Kombayi died of gunshot injuries he sustained at the hands of state security operatives for challenging Simon Muzenda in the parliamentary elections of 1990 and that he had been denied hero status because he died an MDC-T member," he posted.

"For the record Meikles Group had been in Gweru since before Independence. The group closed shop after they lost their merchandise when prices of goods were arbitrarily slashed down in 2007 and shop shelves were cleaned up in a few days."

He said similar sentiments are reported to have been made by the former Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ignatius "Corruption."

"Chombo who is reported to have asked at a meeting with MDC-T councillors of Gweru what young Mayor Kombayi was doing in MDC-T? "So all Zimbabweans must join ZanuPF?" he said.
