Vice President John Landa Nkomo has castigated the private media for writing falsehoods to misinform the public while causing chaos and despondency.
This follows a story in one of the publications claiming that Nkomo had passed away.
Speaking at the Matabeleland region Zanu-PF leadership meeting, at Elangeni Training Institute in Bulawayo, Nkomo Nkomo said he is fit and still committed to serving the interests of the people of Zimbabwe, adding that it is only God who gives and takes life.
Speaking at the same meeting, Zanu-PF Chairperson, Simon Khaya Moyo challenged party members to prepare for the next elections, which Robert Mugabe said will be held as soon as the constitution making process is complete.
Moyo added that the region should assist Bulawayo Metropolitan Province to successfully host the Zanu PF National People's Conference from the 6th to the 10th of December this year.
He also said on the 8th of December during the conference, the country will host secretary generals of the African liberation movements, who will also hold a meeting.
The liberation movements consist of Zanu-PF, Frelimo from Mozambique, MPLA from Angola, ANC from South Africa, SWAPO from Namibia and Chamachama-pinduzi from Tanzania.
