MDC challenges Zanu PF to tell the nation the truth that it defected from Zapu

The MDC Matabeleland South Chairman Pilate Ndebele has challenged the ruling Zanu PF to tell the nation that it defected from PF Zapu in 1963 and stop telling people lies that it is the only party which brought independence as PF Zapu was the most strongest revolutionary movement which was feared by the Rhodesian regime.

Ndebele said as the Heroes day celebrations approach usually Zanu PF government is seen telling a lot of stories that it brought the independence of this country and never mention the strong presence of PF Zapu and Zipra in the liberation struggle.

"Zanu PF must stop lying to the people that it is the only party that brought independence. They make it appear as if Zipra and PF Zapu were not there. In fact they must tell the nation that they defected from Joshua Nkomo to form Zanu PF," he said.

He also warned that the Zanu PF stance in disregarding PF Zapu contributions to the liberation of the country as detrimental top the true history of the country as many children would grow up only knowing that it is the only party that liberated them which is not true.

Zimbabwe is celebrating the heroes day on August 11.
