Police Commissioner - General Augustine Chihuri
Police Commissioner - General Augustine Chihuri has warned that the force will not keep bad apples within its ranks and will dismiss offenders even if they appeal against the decision.
In recent weeks, several police officers including low ranking cops have sued have dragged Chihuri to court on various charges.
Recently Detective constable Lazarus Gondo dragged commissioner general to the High Court after he was jailed for seven days for misconduct.
In another case , a junior police officer based at Ross Camp Sergeant Wellington Sibanda took the police boss to court challenging his unfairly dismissal of his appeal against a 10-day jail term following an internal disciplinary hearing over the death of a police dog.
He cited the police chief as the respondent.
However, Chihuri said discipline was the cornerstone of good policing.
"Officers be assured that if you are a bad apple, we will not keep you. Going to the High Court (to appeal) will not help," he said.
Last month Chihuri warned senior officers against undermining ZRP disciplinary processes saying those caught would be punished accordingly.
He commended officers who participated at the SARPCCO Games for maintaining discipline and flying the country's flag high.
"You have demonstrated that discipline is the fulcrum of success and hence you are reaping the rewards of hard work and good conduct," Comm-Gen Chihuri said.
