Zanu-PF investigating big wigs implicated in Wikileaks

Zanu-PF has described as disturbing latest revelations by the whistleblower website Wikileaks alleging that some of the party's bigwigs held secret discussions with the United States embassy.

Zanu-PF has implored those named in the cable leaks to start examining their conscience as the party is seriously investigating the matter.

Responding to the cable leaks, Zanu-PF Secretary for Information and Publicity, Rugare Gumbo said it is unfortunate that some senior and prominent people have been implicated but the party will look into the matter with the seriousness it deserves.

"The revelations are disturbing and demoralising. We are studying the issue, we want to see how these things develop but we have not yet taken a position as a party. People should examine their own conscience and ask themselves whether they have done right or wrong, and if it is wrong, there is a way of correcting it," said Gumbo.

Gumbo revealed that the latest cable leaks could be a drop in the ocean and challenged those who were engaged in such activities to start examining their conscience as the country braces itself for more leaks.

The wikileaks cables have implicated some Zanu-PF officials, Army Generals, MDC officials and Reserve Bank officials among others for having secretly met US embassy officials.
