A Zanu-PF parliamentary caucus has appointed Annah Rungani as the new Deputy Chief Whip in the National Assembly, amid calls by the party's Vice President, Emmerson Mnangagwa for legislators in the ruling party to be more pro-active in moving motions in the august house.
Annah Rungani will replace Berita Chikwama, who was appointed Deputy Minister of Lands and Resettlement.
The ruling party's parliamentary caucus met today at the party's national headquarters in Harare.
The new Chief Whip to replace Dr Joram Gumbo, who is now the Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development, will be chosen by party president, Robert Mugabe.
As various developmental issues were also discussed during the caucus, a position was also taken that this year's agricultural inputs which will be distributed countrywide will see small grains being given to provinces which are traditionally dry, a decision which was welcomed by legislators who hail from those areas.
