Zaka – There is need for unity of purpose among MDC members as the party continues to surge towards the completion of real change, MDC leaders here said at the weekend.
Addressing over 500 party supporters at a Real Change Peace rally at Zibwowa Business Centre in Zaka East, Masvingo on Sunday, provincial secretary and Masvingo Urban MP, Matutu, Masvingo Central MP, Jeffryson Chitando and Zaka North MP, Ernest Mudavanhu all concurred there was need for unity as the party was on the verge of completing real change.
Chitando said constitutional reforms were crucial ahead of polls adding such changes were critical ahead of complete change. He urged party supporters to remain patient since their long awaited wishes were around the corner.
"To complete our journey towards freedom, we must complete constitutional reforms. We have always emphasised the fact that nobody can dream of elections before the completion of the crucial process. We are going to make sure that all the necessary procedures are put in place before we can go to the much anticipated polls," said Chitando.
Matutu spoke of the need for unity among party members urging party supporters to bury their differences and assume a common position since bickering could drag the process of real change.
"We know that people may have differences but this time around let us finish the journey towards real change. We must stand as a united family because we all know that Zanu PF has a knack for using divide and rule tactics. Let us bury the hatchet. As such we should not be cheated by self important Zanu PF functionaries," said Matutu.
Mudavanhu urged party supporters to be disciplined all the time and added he was humbled by the level of commitment among party faithful.
