The Zanu-PF Mashonaland West youth league has accused the party's leadership of excluding the wing in the formulation of policies and funding modalities for programmes.

This emerged at a Mashonaland West Inter-District Conference held in Chinhoyi.

The youth league's anger is over alleged inadequate consultation by the Youth, Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment Ministry on issues to do with youth affairs.

The party's youth league chairman for the province Vengi Musengi alleged they learnt about the recent launch of the Localised Empowerment and Accelerated Facility (LEAF) through television.

The Zanu-PF youth league national secretary for administration Lewis Matutu stressed that the youth must not be used by individuals with self-serving interests that do not further those of the party.

In response, Youth, Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment Minister Patrick Zhuwawo said he is willing to engage anyone including the youth, who can add value to the ministry's programmes.

The provincial inter-district conference resolved that a certain number of seats be reserved for the youth in parliament so that their interests can be represented at policy making level.
