Zanu-PF Politburo meeting kicks off National People's Conference

The 15th Zanu-PF annual National People's Conference has officially started with a politburo meeting held at the party's headquarters in Harare on Monday.

Addressing journalists after the meeting, the party's spokesperson Ambassador Simon Khaya Moyo says it's all systems go and only accredited delegates will be allowed to attend the deliberations that will commence on Friday in the resort town of Victoria Falls.

Ambassador Khaya Moyo stressed that the conference is not an elective congress saying the media should desist from sensationalising issues.

Ambassador Moyo says the party's Secretary for Administration Dr Ignatius Chombo gave a detailed report of the conference preparations.

Zanu-PF National Commissar Saviour Kasukuwere also gave a report on the restructuring exercise and the Meet the People Rallies held by the Secretary for Women's Affairs and First Lady Dr Grace Mugabe in Maphisa and Gutu.

The Secretary for External Affairs Simbarashe Mumbengegwi reported on the Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to Zimbabwe while Health and Child Care Minister Dr David Parirenyatwa also gave a report on the recently held International Conference on AIDS and STIs in Africa.

A central committee meeting will be held on Wednesday and delegates from across the country will travel to Victoria Falls on Thursday.

The 15th Zanu-PF National People's Conference will be held from the 7th to the 13th of December in the resort town.
