Following the recent arrest and eviction of Zanu-PF youths in Bulawayo, the party relations have worsened. Provincial chairman Isaac Dakamela on Friday disowning the youths.
A number of Zanu-PF youths, including secretary for economic affairs Fundisani Dewa, have already appeared in court over the invasions.
Party insiders told NewsDay that Dakamela is supporting the arrests while some senior provincial party members are said to be against the move by police.
The arrests are reported to have triggered fresh attempts by angry youths to remove Dakamela from power, accusing him of protecting interests of members of the white community.
"The rest of the party elders are not happy with the way things are being handled. Only Dakamela and a few are happy because they are already compromised when it comes to the issue of indigenisation," said a party insider.
"Even those who stood by Dakamela when the youths wanted him thrown out in the first place have folded their hands. He is all alone now."
Contacted for comment, yesterday,Dakamela said he did not know the youths who were arrested.
This is despite the fact one of the youths is Fundisani Dewa, a member of the party's youth executive in Bulawayo.
"The youths that you are talking about, I do not know where they belong to. I have not heard anything about the arrest of our members. I have only seen it in the papers, so I cannot comment on anything that I have not been officially told," he said.
"The problem of commenting on things you do not know about is that tomorrow it will be interpreted the wrong way leading to unnecessary clashes."
