ZANU-PF Midlands Province has set up a disciplinary committee to conduct hearings against provincial leaders accused of threatening three ministers in the province.

This follows a letter written by Makhosini Hlongwane, (Sports and Recreation Minister), Anastasia Ndhlovu (Tourism and Hospitality Deputy Minister) and Tapiwa Matangaidze (Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Deputy Minister) to the party's national commissar Saviour Kasukuwere and Acting President Phelekezela Mphoko seeking protection from party members who are allegedly victimising them on claims that they are members of G40, a purported faction in Zanu-PF .

The province held an extra-ordinary meeting yesterday where it was revealed that Kasukuwere had directed them to address the matter by Monday. Provincial chairman Kizito Chivamba said a disciplinary committee will investigate the individuals implicated: provincial secretary for security Owen Ncube; provincial youth league secretary for administration, Justice Mayor Wadyajena; the youth provincial chairman Edmore Samambwa, among others.

"We've set up a five member disciplinary committee that would be led by deputy chairman, McKenzie Ncube and John Holder. We've since advised the national commissar of this development," said Chivamba. Ncube, the provincial vice chairperson read Cdes Hlongwane, Ndhlovu and Matangaidze's letter of complaint at the meeting.

In the letter, the trio accused Owen Ncube and Wadyajena of also denigrating other party leaders such as Kasukuwere, Patrick Zhuwao and Professor Jonathan Moyo. The letter alleged that Owen Ncube also chanted slogans during a meeting at the provincial party office denigrating the trio as well as the three politburo members.

Wadyajena was alleged to have accused Matangaidze and his colleagues of being part of the G40 group. "We the undersigned, are writing to you in your capacity as national secretary for the commissariat, charged with the responsibility of maintaining order and discipline within the party.

"Since the appointments, we have been under incessant attacks from Owen Mudha Ncube (secretary for security in the Midlands province), Justice Mayor Wadyajena (secretary for administration in the Midlands youth league), Edmore Samambwa (the youth provincial chairman) and other members of the Youth League who allege our appointments were G40-motivated. Ncube once chanted slogans during a meeting at the party office where he said 'pasi na (down with) Matangaidze, pasi na Makhosini Hlongwane, pasi na Anastasia Ndlovu pasi na Kasukuwere, pasi na Zhuwao pasi na Jonathan Moyo,'" reads part of the letter.

The trio further allege that they have been threatened with violence by Ncube and his "hired" thugs. "It must be pointed out that the idea of clubbing all ministers in the Midlands province into submission, is designed to remove their loyalty from President Robert Mugabe to submit them to an alternative narrative," reads the letter.
