Zanu-PF members have been urged to follow due processes before making recommendations to expel or suspend members from the party.
This is what came out of the Zanu-PF Mashonaland West Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) that met in Chinhoyi over the weekend.
Zanu-PF Secretary for Administration, Dr Ignatius Chombo told members of the PCC to avoid unnecessary tension premised on rumours, saying with wanton suspensions such as have been experienced in some provinces, some organs would lose a third of their members, a situation that would lead to dissolution of such organs.
Central Committee Member, Phillip Chiyangwa also expressed the same sentiments.
The province also passed a resolution to have former War Veterans Minister, Christopher Mutsvangwa expelled from the ruling party for uttering statements denigrating the first family following his suspension from the party.
Dr Chombo reminded those with presidential aspirations that President Robert Mugabe remains the party's presidential candidate for 2018.
The meeting also discussed the issue of food distribution and Provincial Minister of State, Faber Chidarikire expressed concern that only 4 of the 17 irrigation projects that benefitted through the Brazil More Food for Africa Programme are operational.
Meanwhile, Zanu-PF members in Masvingo have been called upon to concentrate on strategies to fight hunger in the province most affected by this season's drought rather than spend time jostling for positions.
Zanu-PF National Political Commissar, Saviour Kasukuwere told the Masvingo PCC in Masvingo yeasterday that instead of jostling for positions, the party's leadership in the province must instead be concentrating on establishing new irrigation schemes, sourcing food for the people and rehabilitation of roads.
"As legislators, let's go and work for the people. Let's focus on fighting hunger and learn to be content with our positions," he said.
Kasukuwere also warned members of the province to desist from insulting the party's leadership, adding that creating unity in the party is far more important than dwelling on trivial matters.
The province was however commended for successfully hosting the 21st February Movement celebrations held on Saturday 27 February.
