The MDC National Council has tasked its standing committee to fast-track preparation for its long awaited elective congress this year.
The National Council met in Harare on Saturday and discussed several issues including coalition talks with other political groupings.
The Welshman Ncube led MDC was this year engulfed with internal squabbles with some elements pushing for his immediate resignation.
However, Ncube is expected to be re-elected as party leader.
In a statement, National Spokesperson Kurauone Chihwayi said the council expressed full confidence in the leadership of Ncube, Vice President and the rest of the leadership collective.
"Council noted the vote of no confidence passed on the former Secretary General Moses Mzila Ndlovu by the Standing Committee and endorsed it.
"It also noted the petition against the leadership of the President by a few members of Council based in Bulawayo and the subsequent suspension by the National Disciplinary Committee of some of them pending appearance before the committee on misconduct charges.
