Rowdy Zanu-PF youths almost exchanged blows with members of the Youths Advocacy for Reform and Democracy (yard) as they stormed a press conference organised by Temba Mliswa –democracy advocacy group.
Violence broke out with two main student union bodies, Zinasu and Zicosu ganging up against former Hurungwe West legislator Temba Mliswa.
YARD yesterday had organised a press conference to ventilate its views on Zanu-PF's so called million-man march next month and as affiliates such as Zimbabwe of students union (Zicosu) were introduced –the unruly members of the governing ary disrupted proceedings.
Yard had given a platform to Zicosu ‘interim" president Howard Madya to make to make a statement, but the Zanu-PF activists claimed that they were bonafide and charged at Mliswa for trying to hijack students.
The Zimbabwe Congress of Students' Unions (Zicosu) and Zimbabwe National Students' Union (Zinasu) confronted the Yard founder, accusing him of dividing their unions by aligning his organisation with some of their members in a bid to bolster his group.
There was pushing and shoving while one student from the Zicosu group, Lonias Rozvi, alleged Mliswa slapped him on the cheek during the melee.
