Mutare vows to resist Zanu-PF move to parcel out free stands

Mutare City Council has vowed to thwart moves by Zanu-PF to parcel out free residential stands to thousands of party youths saying all home seekers should go through normal procedures and register on the council's housing waiting list.

Mayor Tatenda Nhamarare yesterday said that the MDC-T dominated council would resist any attempts by ruling party officials to force the local authority to cede its residential land to Zanu-PF supporters.

Nhamarare was responding to Manicaland Provincial Affairs minister Mandi Chimene's weekend threats to force council to cede part of its land to Zanu-PF youths.
