MDC-T condemns jamming of social media platforms

Reports that the Zanu PF regime has jammed some social media platforms such as WhatsApp are very regrettable and quite depressing.Only fascist and Stalinist regimes are capable of doing this kind of despicable thing.

The MDC strongly condemns the high-handed, illegal and indeed, nefarious step that has been taken by the collapsing and faction-ridden Zanu PF regime to try to stifle the people of Zimbabwe's freedom of expression. Freedom of expression and freedom of the media is a fundamental human right as clearly provided for in Section 61 of the Constitution of Zimbabwe.

The MDC is calling upon the Zanu PF regime to immediately restore the functionality of all social media platforms, including WhatsApp. The Zanu PF regime should be advised that the people of Zimbabwe are now sick and tired of a renegade and morbidly corrupt regime that has hopelessly failed to address such essential livelihood issues such as timeously paying civil servants their salaries and also providing a condusive economic environment for the creation of jobs for the millions of our unemployed youths. No amount of suppression and repression can stop a revolution whose time has arrived. The Zanu PF regime is on its way out of power and the people of Zimbabwe shall soon peacefully and democratically elect a government of their own choice.There is neither retreat nor surrender. This is the end game for the Zanu PF regime.
